Chiropractic Education

dxChiropractors complete a minimum of five years of full-time study at an accredited university. RMIT University in Melbourne, Macquarie University in Sydney and Murdoch University in Perth all offer chiropractic courses.

Chiropractic study focuses on the nervous system and musculoskeletal system. There is also extensive training in diagnosis, which allows chiropractors to recognise conditions that require urgent medical attention. Training also involves about 18 months of clinical experience before graduation.

All chiropractors have to register under the relevant State Act before they can practise as a chiropractor.

Members of the Chiropractic and Osteopathic College of Australasia are required to undertake ongoing education.
